Question: Which are recommendable external microphones for Milestone 312?

Answer: Milestone 312 with serial number 200000 or higher give you the possibility to record via an external microphone. To ensure best recording results you need an appropriate microphone. Depending on what you want to record there are several microphones, which can be recommended. 
In the following list of tested microphones you find recommendations respecting different usages. Please be aware that you do not need an additional amplifier since Milestone feeds the microphones.

Olympus ME51S:
The ME51S is a small, slip-on stereo microphone in T form.
Applications: Presentations, interviews and conferences.

Sony ECM-DS 70 P:
The ECM-DS 70 P is a small, slip-on stereo microphone in T form. It allows adjusting the angle of the microphone between 0 and 90 degrees.
Application:  Presentations, interviews and conferences. 

Philips LFH9172:
The LFH9172 is a conference microphone. It has the shape of a disc with a diameter of 13 cm (5.1 inch). It allows creating 360-degree recordings. 
Applications: Especially conferences

Soundman OKM2:
The OKM2 is a high quality stereo microphone that looks like an earphone. During recordings, the two microphones are plugged into ones ears or put on an artificial head. A plus is to have your hands free while recording. See www.soundman.de for further information.

Hint: If you connect a microphone to Milestone 312 you get the possibility to adjust a couple of settings in the Local Settings of Audio.


Question: External Microphones for Milestone 312 with SN less than 200000?

Answer: It is not possible to connect an external microphone on Milestone 312 with serial numbers less than 200000. However Bones tries to develop a solution to connect external microphones via USB connector. At the moment it is not possible to give a date about a possible launch of this solution.
