Answer: The name Woodscan is a tribute to the inventor of the barcode, Sir Norman Joseph Woodland. Question: What are barcodes and how does Woodscan work? Answer: Barcode is the name for an optoelectronic readable script, which consists of different parallel bars and gaps. The term code does not mean encoded, but illustration of data with binary symbols. The data of the barcodes can be read automatically with optical readers, for example our barcode scanner Woodscan and are processed electronically afterwards. Barcode readers belong to data acquisition devices. There are different kinds of readers, such as laser scanners like Woodscan: One or several laser beams are directed to the barcode and will reflect differently according to the color and will be decoded afterwards.
