Question: Do I need to pay for software updates for Milestone?

Answer: No. Software updates are available free of charge on www.bones.ch.


Question: How can I update my Milestone 312?

Answer: If you would like to do an update with the newest firmware, you have two possibilities.
Either you go to your dealer, where you bought the device and he will update your Milestone if the software is out-of-date. Or you can do it by your own over the Internet. Therefore please follow the few steps below.

Check which firmware is on your Milestone: In the menu you find the appropriate announcement of the firmware version. 

Check which is the newest available firmware: Open your Internet browser and go to www.bones.ch. Under “Support” select your product and there you find the newest firmware, for example 3.20. If this version is higher than the one on your Milestone, please download the file to your desktop.

Copy the newest firmware on Milestone‘s external memory: Please connect Milestone with your computer. Copy the firmware into the root directory of the plugged in SD card and log off your Milestone properly from the computer as you would do with a memory stick. You will hear the announcement “Software update in progress. Please wait”.


Question: Are there software extras for Milestone 312?

Answer: Yes. There are additional software extras, which can be activated on your Milestone 312. With these optional applications you can create an aid that suits your needs and wishes. Currently available is an agenda application, a FM radio and the RFID reader “Speakout“. To buy and activate software extras, please contact your dealer.


Question: What is the CONFIG MILESTONE.TXT file and what do I need it for?

Answer: In the root directory of Milestone 312‘s internal memory you find the file “CONFIG MILESTONE.TXT”. In this file you can activate and deactivate applications and edit further settings. For example in the setting “enable_device speakout” replace the parameter “yes” by “no”. Therewith the application Speakout is deactivated. So with this file you can individualize your device to your needs. If you delete this file the device goes back to its initial state again and all your settings are gone.
