Voices and languages description

Besides the pre-installed voices (languages) on your Milestone 312 you can download further voices from www.bones.ch and install it on your Milestone 312. Afterwards, the installed voices can be selected in the menu.
Let us assume you have the US English voice „Heather“ running on your Milestone 312 and you install the spanish voice „Maria“ in addition. Now you can change to Maria with the menu of Audio. Therewith you change the voice and as well the language of your unit. Of course you can also install and activate „Ryan“, another US English voice. Because this is the same language as already active you only change the voice of your unit but not the language.

Requirements:
To be able to install the downloadable voices on www.bones.ch please make sure that your Milestone 312 at least has the firmware version 2.19 installed. Alike the voices, the newest firmware is available in the Support area of Milestone 312. There you find as well the latest prompts list. Please update the prompts as well to make sure that your Milestone 312 has all necessary prompts for new features available after a firmware update.

Installation:
First of all please download the desired voice. 
Unzip this file and copy it into the root directory of a SD memory card. Insert this SD memory card into your Milestone 312. The unit will install the file automatically at the correct place. This process last 2 to 3 minutes. Milestone 312 signalizes the installation process with a periodic click.
Afterwards you can select the voice on your device as described below.

Attention: Be aware that Milestone’s memory for voices is limited. Please do not install more than 6 voices on your unit. 

Change voice on Milestone 312:
Select the Audio mode to change a voice or language on Milestone 312. Now keep pressed the „Mode“ button (button with a tactile X) for 1.5 seconds. An information service starts. Press the right arrow button once to enter the local settings. With pushing the „Mode“ button several times you can navigate downwards in the list of the Local Settings. If you have you reached „language“ you can select with the right and left arrow button between the available voices (languages). With the „Selector“ button, which is located on the front side of the unit, you leave the menu again. The last setting you have done, in this case the last voice you have selected, is automatically saved and activated.

Delete voices:
You have to open the hidden drive „Secret“ to delete a voice. But please be aware that erasing a wrong file can cause problems in the software.
Please open “Secret” as follows:
Connect Milestone 312 with your computer and open the file “CONFIG MILESTONE.txt”. Enter the command “show_a” at the end of the file’s content and press enter to create a new line after the command.
Save and close the file. 
Disconnect Milestone 312 from your computer. 
Connect Milestone again with your computer.
Now the drive “Secret” appears. In the folder “TTS” you find several folders. Each of these folders is a voice. Just delete now the folder (voice) you do not need anymore. 

Attention: Do not delete the basic voice “ENU_20_HEATHER”.
Attention: If you work on a MAC computer please empty the trash bin after erasing a voice. Else the memory storage is not given free.
