Activating Audible on Milestone 212Ace and 312Ace.

1. Audible demands the AudibleSync app to interact with devices. Look for this app with Google, with the search term "AudibleSync". You will spot it easily. It might be that you will be re-directed onto the Microsoft download store to install the app. Anyway, the app is costless.

2. Install and run AudibleSync.

3. it has been reported to us that the AudibleSync app is not easily accessible with all screen readers. Here is a reported procedure that works well with it: "AudibleSync works very well with nvda. What doesn't work is loading in parts. So if the book is too long, you have to go through the Audible website to download it. When you first log in, you have to search a little with the virtual cursor of nvda for the correct setting and select it with the mouse click of nvda. However, once you have set up access, the program is easy to use."

4. It is essential to chose your according shop before entering your login credentials. The shop is selected on the home screen in the lower left corner. Usually, for users in the US you select Audible.com, in Germany Audible.de, and so on.

5. Select login and enter your Amazon account credentials. It is important not to enter your direct Audible credentials, but your Amazon account credentials. Otherwise, the procedure won't work. If you don't have an Amazon account yet, open one and synchronize it's audio book library with your Audible account. If you have an Amazon account already but have purchased your books in the Audible account so far, synchronize your Amazon account with your Audible account. Synchronization is done via the Audible homepage. The Audible telephone support helps you doing this.

6. Now logged into AudibleSync. you must see your books appear in the app. If this is not the case, go back to steps 3 and 4. You must see your books. If not, you could as well call the Audible helpline.

7. Now for Milestone. Make sure you have at least firmare 6.3 running and connect it to your Windows PC. It will appear as small device icon on the left screen of AudibleSync. If this is not the case: In case it is Milestone 212Ace, make sure a memory card is inside the slot of Milestone. If still there is no icon, make the exception approach as of step 10 further below.

8. On the upper right corner, click "register device". It takes a few seconds until this is done. If there is an error following, make the exception approach as of step 10 below.

9. Congratulations. You are now able to download and play Audible books. You don't have to do this procedure ever again, but now can download and play books, as of step 9.

10. Download any book from your library to your PC. It always goes to the PC first and afterwards can be copied to Milestone. Even download previously downloaded books again, to make sure they also contain the copy protection key of the newly just added Milestone device. When downloaded to the PC, look for the transfer button and let AudibleSync copy the book to Milestone.

Done.

11. Exceptional scenario 1: In (really) rare cases it can happen that books are not played despite registration. We have observed this especially with very old Audible accounts that have been in existence for 10 years or longer. Changing the Milestone serial number usually helps and then everything runs smoothly. However, we are very restrictive when it comes to changing serial numbers. Please check all other options before taking this step.

12. Exception scenario 2: Until further notice, we offer to register your Milestone for playback with Audible. This demands your cooperation in a thrustful way, because we would need temporary access to your Amazon account, for about 2 minutes. Therefore, we only do this with you being on the telephone with us, where you immediately afterwards could change your password. The procedure is:

12.1. Write us an email to info@bones.ch that you would like to register your Milestone for Audible. Please include your telephone number and the serial number of your Milestone.

12.2. We write you back with some suggestions of days/times to contact you. Please let us know which one you would like to choose.

12.3. We call you and do the whole process above from our end, with a Windows PC on our end. At some point, we need you to tell us your Amazon credential. This is your login email and the password. When we have entered this, you usually will get a message on your mobile phone that someone from Europe tries to have access to your Amazon account. You need to acknowledge this.

12.4. We log into AudibleSync from our end, make the registration for you and log out. This takes about 2 minutes, while you are still on the phone. You then can immediately change your password, if you wish.

12.5. We have the needed Audible registration file now at our end and email it to you. This is a small file that self-installs on Milestone. Afterwards, you are able to play Audible books. Proceed to step 8 above.
